Embodiment Construction

[0087] Referring now to FIG. 1 , a system for generating transient and / or non-transient multispectral and hyperspectral images is described.

[0088] A multiple filter unit (MFU) comprises a multiple filter mosaic and / or a uniform multiple filter placed in the converging light in the light path. Multiple filters are created by stacking several filters by placing them at different positions in the beam path in the converging light, and / or stacking several of them together (to get a stacked filter) and place them in a converging light. It is also possible to stack all of them together (and get a stacked filter) and place them in a converging light in the light path, eg directly on the image sensor unit that receives the input light. Uniform multiple filters (e.g. for non-transient multispectral and hyperspectral image recording) can be produced by overlapping uniform filters, while multiple filter mosaics (e.g. for transient multispectral and hyperspectral image recording) can ...

Abstract

The present invention relates to the production of instantaneous multispectral or hyperspectral images, comprising light collecting means (11), an image sensor (12) with at least one two dimensional sensor array (121), an instantaneous colour separating means, positioned before said image sensor (12) in the optical path of said arrangement (1), and first uniform spectral filters (112) in said optical path, with the purpose of restricting imaging to certain parts of the electromagnetic spectrum. The present invention specifically teaches that at least one first colour mosaic filter (112) is interchangeably positioned before the colour separating means (122) in, or at least close to, converged light (B). The first colour mosaic filter (112) consists of a multitude of homogeneous filtering regions with transmission curves that are partly overlapping on the first colour mosaic (112) or between the first colour mosaic (112) and the colour separating means (122) and suitably spread out in the intervals of a spectrum to be studied. The combination of the colour separating means (122) and the first colour mosaic filter (112) produces different sets of linearly independent colour filter transmission curves.

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention generally relates to a system comprising means and methods for generating spectrally informative multiband images and multispectral and hyperspectral images, or generating spectrally or spectrally informative signals. The device includes a light collection device, an image sensor with at least one two-dimensional sensor array including an embedded (integrated with the image sensor) color separation device, and a device located in the device for the purpose of confining imaging to a specific portion of the electromagnetic spectrum. An optional uniformity filter in the optical path. The invention also relates to optical aids and methods for producing multispectral and hyperspectral images. Color mosaics, uniform color filters and / or color filter wheels may be included in the device of the invention or the optical aid of the invention. The image recorded by the image sensor is demosaiced into a multiband image in which each frequency...
