Abstract

The invention proposes a method for automatically synchronizing version of an optic network unit in an Ethernet passive optical network. The method comes out to solve a problem that the optic network unit can not be automatically updated in the prior art and includes the following steps: 1. upgrading files required for the optic network unit are stored in an optic line terminal; 2. after the optic network unit is started up, current version information is reported; and 3. the optic line terminal compares the version information of the optic network unit with the version information of the upgrade files corresponding to the optic network unit in the step 1 after receiving the version information of the optic network unit; and if the version information of the optic network unit is the same with the version information of the upgrade files, the steps are terminated, otherwise, the optic network unit executes operation of version update. The invention is mainly applied in the Ethernet passive optical network and can realize automatic update of the ONU, thus lowering maintenance cost.
