Embodiment Construction

[0032] The preferred embodiments of the present invention are described below:

[0033] figure 1 It is a structural block diagram of an exemplary device, which includes a plurality of single-port devices 110a-e arranged in a serial daisy chain cascade arrangement. The devices 110a-e are exemplary storage devices, each containing a memory (not shown in the figure), the memory may include a dynamic random access memory (DRAM) unit, a static random access memory (SRAM) unit, a flash memory unit and many more. Each device 110 includes serial input (SI), serial output (SO), clock (SCLK) input, and chip select (CS#) input.

[0034] The serial input is used to transfer information (such as commands, addresses, and data information) to the device 110. The serial output is used to transfer information from the device 110. The SCLK input is used to provide an external clock signal to the device 110, and the CS# input is used to provide a chip select signal to the device 110. An example o...

Abstract

A technique for serially coupling devices in a daisy chain cascading arrangement. Devices are coupled in a daisy chain cascade arrangement such that outputs of a first device are coupled to input:s of a second device later in the daisy chain to accommodate the transfer of information, such as data, address and command information, and control signals to the second device from the first device. The devices coupled in the daisy chain comprise a serial input (SI) and a serial output (SO), Information is input to a device via the SI. The information is output from the device via the SO. The SO ofan earlier device is the daisy chain cascade is coupled to the SI of a device later in the daisy chain cascade. Information input to the earlier device via the device's SI is passed through the device and output from the device via the device's SO.; The information is then transferred to the later device's SI via the connection from the earlier device's SO and the later device's SI.

Description

Background technique [0001] Computer-based systems are now available everywhere, and have successfully entered many devices used in daily life, such as mobile phones, laptops, automobiles, medical devices, personal computers, and so on. In general, society has relied heavily on computer-based systems when dealing with daily tasks, from simple tasks of balancing bills to relatively complex tasks such as forecasting the weather. With the development of technology, more and more work is transferred to computer-based systems. This also makes society increasingly dependent on these systems. [0002] A typical computer-based system includes a system board and optional one or more peripheral devices, such as a display unit, a storage unit, and so on. The system motherboard can contain one or more processors, storage subsystems, and other logic, such as serial device interfaces, network device controllers, hard disk controllers, etc. [0003] The type of processor used on a particular sy...
