Problems solved by technology

[0004] For example, when the detection value generated by the sensing unit 2 for the brightness of the current light source is greater than the detection value generated by the sensing unit 1 for the brightness of the current light source, the processing unit compares the detection value of the sensing unit 2 with the memory value. The default value (obtained by using sensor unit 1) will underesti

Embodiment Construction

[0024] Referring to FIG. 1 , FIG. 1 is a schematic diagram of a display device according to a preferred embodiment of the present invention. The display device 1 is, for example, a liquid crystal display, and includes a back frame 2 , a light source 3 , a plurality of optical sheets 41 - 44 , a control module 5 , a light sensing device 6 and a light pipe 7 . The light source 3 disposed on the bottom surface of the back frame 2 is, for example, a plurality of lamp tubes or light emitting diodes, and is driven by the control module 5 to emit light. The light sensing device 6 detects the brightness of the light source 3 through the light guiding function of the light pipe 7 . The light generated by the light source 3 is processed by the optical sheets 41 - 44 and then reaches the liquid crystal display panel (not shown) of the display device 1 . Wherein, the driving circuit for driving the light source 3 in the control module 5 can record the light-emitting time of the light sou...

Abstract

The invention relates to a gamma correction method, used for a display device which comprises a light source. First, an object brightness value L1 is provided. Then, an optical sensor is utilized to detect the brightness of the light source so as to obtain a detection value S2 of the optical sensor. Then, a brightness value L2 of the light source when the optical sensor is in the process of detection. Finally, the brightness of the light source is adjusted according to L1, L2 and S2.

Description

technical field [0001] The invention relates to a display device and a brightness correction method thereof, in particular to a display device capable of calibrating a light sensing device and a brightness correction method thereof. Background technique [0002] In general flat panel displays, light sources such as cold cathode lamps or light emitting diodes are used. However, as the use time increases, the luminous efficacy of the light source will naturally decay (aging), and consumers will also find that the brightness of the screen tends to become dimmer than when it was originally purchased. In U.S. Patent No. 6,448,550 and Taiwan Patent Publication No. I263754, the known technology of building a sensor unit in a display to feed back and control the brightness of a light source is disclosed, so as to automatically compensate the brightness performance of the screen and increase product competitiveness. [0003] That is to say, through the design of the sensing unit, th...
