The method comprises: the camera captures video images ahead; the image grabbing card transmits the video images to a memory of the micro process at a high speed and the micro process judges whether a vehicle is coming ahead according to the processing of the video images; the LED controller controls the light source of the headlight system to execute corresponding lighting mode according to the results of the judgment of the processor. The invention can judges automatically whether a vehicle is coming ahead according to the images captured by the vehicle-mounted camera, and automatically control the headlight system of the vehicle so as to generate glare for the coming vehicles, thereby contributing to safe driving at night and reducing the burdens of drivers.
