Embodiment approach 1

[0145] 1. System configuration

[0146] figure 1 is a diagram showing a configuration example of a communication network in this embodiment.

[0147] The wireless terminal MN5 is a terminal having access means on both the WiMAX access network 2 and the UMB access network 3 . The communication counterparty device CN6 is a terminal or a server that communicates with the MN5.

[0148] The core network 1 is a communication network that accommodates both the WiMAX access network 2 and the UMB access network 3, and is connected to the server AAA11 and the node HA12. The AAA 11 is a server that manages the correspondence between terminal identifiers and verification information, and verifies the terminal. HA12 is a node specified by Mobile IP, and manages the correspondence between HoA and CoA of MN5. HA12 converts the IP packet for MN5's HoA received from CN6 into an IPinIP packet for MN5's CoA, and transmits it to MN5 in order to continue HoA-based communication even when MN5 ...

Embodiment approach 2

[0253] In Embodiment 2, as an application example for different access networks, it will be explained that the HO-GW is WiMAX and 3GPP (3 rd Generation Partnership Project) An example of speeding up the handover between LTE (Long Term Evolution).

[0254] 1. System configuration

[0255] Figure 22 It is a diagram showing a configuration example of a communication network in Embodiment 2.

[0256] Wireless terminal MN1050 is a terminal having access means on both WiMAX access network 1020 and LTE access network 1030 . The communication counterparty device CN1060 is a terminal or a server that communicates with the MN1050.

[0257] The core network 1010 is a communication network that accommodates both the WiMAX access network 1020 and the LTE access network 1030 , and is connected to the server AAA1011 and the node HA1012 . AAA1011 is a server that manages the correspondence between terminal identifiers and verification information, and verifies the terminal. In addition,...

Embodiment approach 3

[0333] Figure 37 An example of the configuration of a communication network in which HO-GW is applied to an FMC (Fixed Mobile Convergence) environment is shown.

[0334] The wireless terminal MN2050 is a terminal having access means on both the WLAN (Wireless Local Access Network) access network 2020 and the LTE access network 2030 . The communication counterparty device CN2060 is a terminal or a server that communicates with the MN2050.

[0335] The core network 2010 is a communication network that accommodates both the WLAN access network 2020 and the LTE access network 2030, and is connected to the server AAA2011 and the node HA2012. AAA2011 is a server that manages the correspondence between terminal identifiers and verification information, and verifies the terminal. In addition, AAA2011 also has the function of HSS of LTE, and manages subscriber information and terminal location information. HA2012 is a node specified by Mobile IP, and manages the corresponding relat...

Abstract

The invention aims at ensuring the independence of each access network, and making the switch of data pathway when the heterogeneous access network is accessed. The invention has the technical solution that a relay gateway apparatus HO-GW 4is provided between heterogeneous access networks (a WiMAX access network and a UMB access network). The HO-GW performs conversion of a movement control signal(an Inter-AGW handover control signal) and relay of communication data. When the relay is performed, user data from a CN reaches a wireless terminal MN through an HAl2 of a core network, an access router ASN-GW21, the HO-GW4, and a base station eBS33a.

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention relates to a communication system and a gateway device, and more particularly, to a communication system and a gateway device that speed up handover between heterogeneous access networks. The present invention relates, for example, to making 3GPP2 (3 rd Generation Partnership Project 2) is a technology for speeding up handover between UMB (Ultra Mobile Broadband) and WiMAX (Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access), the 3.9th generation mobile communication method, but it is not limited to this and can be applied to various access networks. Background technique [0002] In recent years, studies have been conducted on services that seamlessly cooperate with mobile communication networks with different coverage areas, throughputs, and communication costs. For example, a system is considered in which a WiMAX area with low equipment cost is installed in a UMB area covering a wide area, and data communication is provided inexp...
