Problems solved by technology

The speed of radiosity in simple scenes can be very fast, but once the scene is complex, the speed of radiosity is far behind photon mapping, and photon tracking can also deal with non-diffuse surfaces and caustics, radiosity cannot.

Abstract

The invention discloses a novel photon mapping-based global illumination method, and belongs to the technical field of image processing. The method of the invention mainly comprises the following steps of: (1) randomly emitting photons to a scene by a light source; (2) judging the state of the emitted photons; (3) tracing the photons by a recursive method according to the information on the surface of an object; (4) storing the photon information; and (5) rendering the scene, namely rendering the scene by combining the Monte-Carlo backward tracing method and the primary photon mapping method. By using the technical scheme of the invention, the running speed, the rendering effect, the used storage space and the like can be improved to a certain extent.

Description

technical field [0001] The invention belongs to the technical field of image processing, and in particular relates to a global illumination method based on photon mapping. Background technique [0002] The global illumination method is one of the three major rendering techniques in graphics. Before the global illumination method based on photon mapping was proposed, the mainstream global illumination rendering method was ray tracing and radiosity method. The early ray tracing method could only deal with specular reflection, refraction and direct illumination. With the Monte Carlo method for light The expansion of the tracing method allows the ray tracing method to handle effects such as caustics and indirect lighting. This method uses a random light distribution for each ray, and a large number of samples of light are required to obtain a satisfactory image. Ray tracing is simple, powerful, and easy to implement, but many things in the real world don't handle well. [0003...
