The invention relates to a method for providing an online data storage service, comprising the following steps: formatting a data operation request by a software development kit (SDK) when launching the data operation request to an online data storage service end by calling the acquired software development kit (SDK) in advance via an application system, and sending the formatted data operation request to the online data storage service end; and executing the corresponding data processing by the online data storage service end in accordance with the formatted data operation request. The invention further relates to a system for providing the online data storage service. By calling the acquired SDK of the online data storage service in the autologous application system to submit the data operation request, thus the service data is stored in the storage environment of an online data storage service provider. The online data storage service provider is in charge of the reliability and safety of the data, and an application software developer is only in need of concerning utilization and processing of the data, thereby reducing the technical difficulty of calling the online data storage service.
