Embodiment Construction

[0030] Such as Figure 1-Figure 3 The lower sealing valve assembly schematically shown in includes a lower sealing valve housing 1 . For illustrative purposes, the hood 1 is shown cut away, ie only partially, ie without side parts. The hood 1 has a horizontal top plate 2 with circular openings forming a first inlet 4 and a second inlet 6 respectively. The inlets 4, 6 are laterally offset with respect to the central axis of the blast furnace (not shown), on top of which the hood 1 is arranged. The lower outlet 7 is arranged coaxially on the axis 5 in the form of a circular opening in the horizontal floor 8 of the housing 1 . The sloping side walls 10 connect the top plate 2 to the bottom plate 8 and give the hood 1 a generally funnel-shaped structure so that charge flow entering along the sloping side walls 10 at either of the offset inlets 4, 6 enters the Center Exit 7.

Abstract

The invention concerns a lower sealing valve assembly for a shaft furnace charging installation. It comprises a lower sealing valve housing (1) with a lower outlet (7) through which charge material can freely drop onto a distribution device. The housing has at least one upper inlet (4, 6) for communicating with an outlet of a hopper arranged above the housing. Each inlet has an associated valve seat (12, 14) that is arranged inside the lower sealing valve housing and turned towards the interior of the housing (1). A shutter (40) is operatively connected to an actuation mechanism (46, 50) for moving the shutter into and out of sealing contact with the valve seat. The valve actuation mechanism comprises a turn-slide cylindric joint (50) having a typically vertical joint axis (51) for swiveling the shutter (40) in a plane perpendicular to the joint axis (51) inside the lower sealing valve housing and for translating the shutter (40) up and down along the joint axis (51). According to the invention, the cylindric joint comprises a shaft (52) that is axially fixed and rotatably in a hollow sleeve (54), which in turn is axially slideable in an outer shell (56) that is fixed to the housing. Further according to the invention, the mechanism comprises: a first hydraulic cylinder (72), which is connected on one side to the shell (56) and on the other side to the hollow sleeve (54) to impart axial translation to the sleeve and therewith to the shaft along the joint axis (51); and: a second hydraulic cylinder (74), which is hinged on one side to the sleeve and on the other side to the shaft, to impart rotation to the shaft (52) and about the joint axis (51).

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention relates generally to a charging arrangement for a shaft furnace, and in particular to a charging arrangement for a blast furnace, and more particularly to a lower sealing valve assembly for such a charging arrangement and the valve actuation of such an assembly Dynamic (valve actuation) mechanism. Background technique [0002] The Bell Less Top developed by PAUL WURTH has been found TM ) type charging device is widely used in blast furnaces all over the world. In these installations, one or more hoppers serving as intermediate storage for the charge to be fed into the pressurized furnace act as sluices or chambers to avoid loss of furnace pressure. To this end, a first valve (often called the upper sealing valve) is associated with the inlet of the hopper, while a second sealing valve (often called the lower sealing valve) is associated with the outlet of the hopper. Alternately open and close the upper and lower valves when in...
