The invention provides a method for improving communication rate of a contact-type intelligent card, which comprises the following steps of: performing data transmission by adopting a mode that a hardware circuit control logic unit automatically switches receiving and transmitting of data; implementing data caching by adopting a first-in first-out (FIFO) mode in the transmission process, and independently controlling FIFO receiving and FIFO transmitting respectively; and generating an interrupt once a byte is accurately received when the data are received, and generating an interrupt after the data in all caches are totally accurately transmitted when the data are transmitted. By adopting the mode that the hardware circuit control logic unit automatically switches receiving and transmitting of the data, the communication rate of the contact-type intelligent card is not affected by the application software processing rate in the card, so the time of processing the software in the card can be increased, and the stability and the processing efficiency of the application software of the intelligent card can be effectively improved.
