The coil system comprises 14 individually controllable coils for generating the corresponding magnetic fields. In this case, the individual coils are designed such that the magnetic fields or field gradients of the respective coils are not concentrated at one or more spatial locations in the working space specified by the coils. Other coil systems can also be used if necessary, a minimum of eight coils should be used so that the magnetic degrees of freedom can be controlled independently of one another.
