Abstract

A device for searching for shipwrecks and ships during rescue operations includes a dummy, in general terms, or more loosely, any type of model representing, with a minimum amount of accuracy, the main physical characteristics of a person, such as weight, size, shape, dimensions, etc. The device is designed as a dummy or any other type of model simulating a human body, that imitates, as accurately as possible, the main physiological characteristics largely determining the behaviour of a body in the water, such as dimensions, shape, weight, floatability, clothes, etc. Furthermore, the dummy includes a positioning system such as a GPS and a signal transmitter enabling its exact position to be indicated to a receiver at any moment, a compartment called lung hereafter, which is prefereably located in the chest of the dummy and provided with an opening valve containing an inflatable impermeable bag, a compressed gas reservoir, and an activation system having a programmable timer, and, optionally, a signal receiver enabling remote activation.
