The data transmission method comprises the following steps of: detecting a connection state of a communication link to be protected between the upstream node and the downstream node and determining whether the communication link to be protected has faults or not by the upstream node; if the communication link to be protected has faults, carrying out fast rerouting switch on the traffic engineering and transmitting and switching data to a pre-established standby label exchange channel for protecting the communication link to be protected by the upstream node; and triggering the virtual link to switch by the upstream node.
