Problems solved by technology

However this has the disadvantage that the torque available for this depends very much on the conditions prevailing at the moment, in particular on the engine temperature
Furthermore, the motor vehicle battery, which must provide the necessary power, is heavily loaded and must be designed accordingly

[0034] figure 1 An example of an engine speed profile during a start and launch of a motor vehicle is shown, with time (in seconds) plotted to the right and speed (in rpm) plotted upwards. Here it is possible to distinguish three phases in particular:

[0035] At the beginning of Phase 1 , the electric starter is connected to the internal combustion engine and is energized and starts turning the crankshaft of the internal combustion engine. Fuel is typically not yet injected at this point. The achieved engine speed is still low. exist figure 1 In , individual crankshaft revolutions and individual piston strokes can be identified from the waveform of the engine speed profile in phase 1 and subsequent phases.

[0036] In phase 2, fuel is injected and ignited. During this phase, the engine speed increases significantly. At the end of phase 2, the starter is disengaged from the internal combustion engine.

[0037] In phase 3, the engine is driven solely by the combustion cy...

Abstract

In a method for controlling the start-up process of a motor vehicle having an internal combustion engine equipped with a start-stop control and an automatic transmission having means for converting the torque generated by the internal combustion engine to an automatically actuated clutch transmitted to the drive wheels, the internal combustion engine being started by the starter in response to a start signal, registering the speed (n) of said internal combustion engine, and said clutch at least partially closed. The invention also relates to a device for carrying out the method.

Description

technical field [0001] The invention relates to a method and a device for controlling the starting process of a motor vehicle having an automatic transmission and a start-stop controller. Background technique [0002] Motor vehicles today are often equipped with automatic start-stop controls, in which the internal combustion engine used to propel the motor vehicle is automatically shut down any time the motive power is not required. When the prime mover is required again, the internal combustion engine is automatically restarted. Thus when for example stopping and waiting at traffic lights or at vehicle speeds less than a minimum speed, the internal combustion engine is switched off, the internal combustion engine is restarted by the electrically operated starter in response to actuation of the accelerator pedal or release of the service brake by the driver. Considerable fuel savings can thus be achieved. Such motor vehicles with an internal combustion engine generating mo...
