Abstract

A method for controlling a communicatively paired device for use with a vehicle (ATU) includes, but is not limited to, the steps of detecting a first power state of the vehicle using a vehicle communication interface (VCI) that is communicatively coupled to a communication bus on the vehicle, transmitting a wireless signal corresponding to the first power state from the VCI to the communicatively paired device, and altering a second power state of the communicatively paired device to correspond with the first power state.

Description

technical field [0001] The technical field of the invention relates generally to vehicles, and more particularly, to an aftermarket telematics system for a vehicle and a method for controlling an aftermarket telematics unit (ATU). Background technique [0002] The telematics service is a service provided by a call center to a vehicle and / or to an operator of the vehicle regarding various needs of the vehicle or the operator. Telematics services typically include, but are not limited to, remote monitoring of vehicle maintenance needs, providing turn-by-turn navigation guidance, coordination of emergency services during vehicle emergencies, providing door unlocking services when the vehicle owner is locked out of the vehicle, After stealing, provide thief tracking service and so on. [0003] Telematics systems traditionally include a telematics unit mounted on a vehicle, a call center remote from the vehicle, and a communication network communicatively connecting the two. Th...
