Abstract
A filter for aluminum melts is provided through which an agent for crystal-grain size reduction, such as TiB2, can pass in an adequate amount and which can remove other inclusions. The filter for aluminum melts is obtained by bonding 100 parts by weight of aggregate particles comprising alumina with 5-20 parts by weight of an inorganic binder, and is characterized in that the binder comprises 7-15 wt.% SiO2, 40-60 wt.% B2O3, and 5-30 wt.% Al2O3 and that the filter contains 0.01-0.5 wt.% Na2O, 0.01-0.5 wt.% K2O, and 0.1-0.5 wt.% CaO.
Description
technical field [0001] The present invention relates to a filter for molten aluminum used for filtering molten aluminum such as inclusions mixed in molten aluminum. Background technique [0002] For aluminum, for example, an ingot is produced by casting molten aluminum, which is rolled to form a thin plate or the like. If non-metallic inclusions are mixed into molten aluminum, surface defects and the like may occur during rolling. [0003] Therefore, in order to remove these non-metallic inclusions, a filter is used to filter the molten aluminum. [0004] As such a filter, for example, a filter for filtering molten aluminum has been developed, which is characterized in that it combines 100 parts by weight of fused alumina by using 10 to 20 parts by weight of an inorganic binding material. It is made of aggregate particles composed of one or more types of sintered alumina, and the raw material composition of the inorganic bonding material is: SiO 2 More than 25% by weight ...
