Embodiment Construction

[0037] figure 1 A block diagram showing the architecture of a mesh network according to the present invention. exist figure 1 In , reference numeral 10 denotes a mesh network according to the present invention. In the following, it is assumed that the mesh network 10 according to the invention is arranged in an aircraft, in particular in its aircraft cabin. The mesh network 10 provides data communication, for which purpose the mesh network is connected to other systems 14 of the aircraft via an interface 15 . The interface 15 is also preferably a wireless communication connection, but it is also conceivable that the interface 15 is a wired interface.

[0038] The mesh network 10 according to the invention is formed as a static ad-hoc network with a hierarchical network architecture. The hierarchically structured mesh network 10 comprises a plurality of network levels 11 , 12 , 13 escalating upwards and thus increasing levels, arranged on top of each other. The mesh networ...

Abstract

The invention relates to a static mesh network in or for a cabin of a vehicle, in particular in or for an aircraft cabin, wherein the cabin has a predetermined, known cabin layout, comprising a plurality of network levels arranged hierarchically relative to one another, wherein respective neighbouring network levels in the hierarchy are in wireless communication with one another, comprising a plurality of network nodes which operate independently of one another and of which the position in the cabin layout is fixedly predetermined by the configuration of a respective network node, wherein the network nodes have an equal logic within a respective network level. The present invention further relates to an aircraft and to a method for data communication using such a network in an aircraft.

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention relates to a static mesh network in or for the cabin of a vehicle, in particular to a static mesh network in or for the cabin of an aircraft. The invention also relates to an aircraft and a method of data communication using such a network. Background technique [0002] The invention belongs to the field of wireless communication networks, and more specifically relates to the field of aviation. Wireless networks are well known in a variety of applications. Such wireless network architectures are generally based on the known star topology in which there is a single central master node, eg a WLAN access point, and multiple slave nodes or clients connected to the master node. If the central master node of a wireless network fails, the entire wireless network cannot function, or at least be greatly reduced in functionality. As a result, such wireless networks based on a star topology are not very robust. Data distribution in such ...
