Abstract

A method utilizing router advertisement carrying options to issue network address translator (NAT) 64 address prefix transformation from internet protocol (IP) v6 addresses to IPv4 addresses. The method comprises the following operation steps of : (1) arranging a route advertisement into a mode of carrying a preset network address transforming NAT data option; (2) issuing network configuration information; (3) inquiring addresses; (4) synthetizing addresses; (5) initiating conversations; and (6) establishing conversions. The method utilizes an inherent technology of IPv6, namely sending of route advertisement in a neighbor discovery protocol in internet control messages protocol, and utilizes corresponding devices provided in all IPv6 subnets. The route advertisement is utilizes to issue prefixes, AAAA type addresses are then synthesized locally, accordingly requirement of user host machines on network service ability is lowered, and access of the user host machines to outer net resources is not necessarily supported by relying on protocols which are complicated in technology and high in network service capability requirements such as dynamic host configuration protocol (DHCP) v6. Moreover, the method is simple and convenient in operation steps, easy to achieve and good in popularization and application prospect.
