Embodiment Construction

[0017] A variety of Re-containing materials can be treated in accordance with the present invention. For example, the figures show that these materials may include Re-containing superalloy residues and waste 20, Re-containing plasma spray deposited overspray residues 40, materials from other sources such as Re-containing ore materials 50, and / or Re-containing waste and cermet catalysts 60 .

[0018] When the Re-containing material comes from superalloy waste or residue material 20 such as machining fluid or filter media, the superalloy waste or residue material 20 is first mixed with a slurry 10 such as an aqueous solution. The aqueous solution and superalloy waste or residue material 20 are thoroughly agitated or subjected to a media emulsification process 30 to form a Re-containing mixture. The Re-containing mixture is then combined with other Re-containing materials such as Re-containing superalloy residues and waste 20, Re-containing plasma spray deposited overspray resid...

Abstract

The present invention relates to a process for the recovery of rhenium (Re) and other metals from Re-containing materials comprising the following steps as an exemplary process: (i) adding the Re-containing material to the leach slurry; (ii) adjusting the pH of the slurry to Obtain soluble form of Re and insoluble residue in metal salt solution; (iii) filter said metal salt solution to remove said insoluble residue; (iv) selectively precipitate Re from metal salt solution; (v) from metal salt Filtrating the Re precipitate in the solution to obtain a Re filter cake; (vi) preparing and drying the Re filter cake to obtain a rhenium sulfide product; (vii) mixing the rhenium sulfide product with Re-containing molybdenum (Mo) collections are combined to obtain a Mo / Re enrichment; (viii) roasting the Mo / Re enrichment to obtain a Mo oxide product and a Re-containing flue gas; and (ix) treating the Re-containing flue gas to Obtain ammonium perrhenate.

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention relates to a method for recovering rhenium (Re) from Re-containing materials. Background technique [0002] Rhenium (Re) is one of the rarest metals on Earth and is found almost exclusively in copper sulfide deposits containing extractable amounts of molybdenum (Mo). Re is found in the molybdenite fraction of this particular type of copper (Cu) ore. As a result, many methods of separating Re from this molybdenite fraction have been developed. [0003] US Patent No. 3,739,549 recovers Re from ore materials by using a roasting method. Mo and Re were first separated from Cu by froth flotation method. The portion containing Mo and Re then undergoes a firing process to separate Mo and Re. Re is largely converted to rhenium heptoxide (Re 2 o 7 ), rhenium heptoxide is volatile and is discharged together with the waste gas generated by roasting. The flue gas undergoes a wet scrubbing process which will contain Re 2 o 7 The fumes ...
