The invention discloses a display method and a device for a search result. The method includes the following steps: obtaining a search request from a user, searching in a database which is stored various video sources to obtain a preliminary search result according to the search request, figuring out search result lists corresponding to each video source, counting each search result list, producing a plurality of search classifying display buttons which contains video source names and a search result total number corresponding to the video source names, and displaying the plurality of search classifying display buttons the search result list of all the video sources in a video result display interface or displaying the plurality of search classifying display buttons and the search result list corresponding to a first video source. According to the display method and the device for the search result, a uniform display of the video search result of different content sources of a live telecast, a playback, video-on-demand (VOD), an internal video, user generated Content (UGC) and the like is achieved, and information which can be used more conveniently by a user is produced and displayed.
