Abstract

The invention relates to a lighting device for an AC power supply. LEDs as light sources have significant advantages with regard to energy efficiency. For instance, unlike thermal light sources, such as incandescent bulbs etc. for example, a far greater proportion of the electrical energy is converted into visible light by LEDs, so that the efficiency is significantly greater than with thermal light sources.
