Problems solved by technology

[0012] Therefore, the current CSFB procedure standardized in 3GPP TS23.272 (see V10.1.0 for example) has the following deployment problem: All MSCs that need to serve a part of the geographical area where E-UTRAN is deployed will support the SG interface and CSFB with the MME process

Embodiment Construction

[0051] In the description of the exemplary embodiments below, for explanatory rather than restrictive purposes, in order to provide a complete understanding of the technology proposed herein, specific details (such as a specific sequence of signaling steps) are set forth. It is obvious to those skilled in the art that other embodiments deviating from these specific details can also implement the present technology. For example, although the following embodiments will be specifically described with reference to LTE, it should be understood that the technology proposed herein can also be implemented in other communication networks where fallback to CS mode can occur.

[0052] In addition, those skilled in the art will understand that software functions combined with a programmed microprocessor, application specific integrated circuit (ASIC), digital signal processor (DSP) or general purpose computer can be used to implement the functions and steps explained below. It should also be...

Abstract

A technique for handling mobile terminating connection attempts for a mobile terminal for which a change of an association from a first routing node to a second routing node is accompanied by a Circuit Switched (CS) fallback is described. A method implementation of this technique comprises the following steps carried out by the first routing node: receiving a first mobile terminating connection attempt to the mobile terminal, in response to receipt of the first mobile terminating connection attempt, determining that the mobile terminal cannot be reached by the first routing node, determining an identity of the second routing node, and transmitting, to the second routing node, a second mobile terminating connection attempt for a CS connection to the mobile terminal.

Description

Technical field [0001] The present disclosure generally relates to connection attempt processing in the case of circuit switched fallback (CSFB). Background technique [0002] CSFB is a CS service that can implement fallback from the first radio access technology (RAT) (for example, the evolved UMTS terrestrial radio access network (E-UTRAN)) to the initial and terminating CS services (mainly for voice, but also for The process of the second RAT (for example, GSM EDGE RAN (GERAN) / UTRAN / 1x) for other services (for example, unstructured supplementary service data (USSD)). [0003] Currently, CSFB is specified in the Third Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) Technical Specification (TS) 23.272 (for example, see V9.4.0 in June 2010). In simple terms, CSFB allows the provision of voice and other CS domain services (for example, USSD-related services) in the Evolved Packet System (EPS) through the reuse of the CS infrastructure when the UE is served by E-UTRAN. Therefore, a UE connec...
