[0054] medical imaging system

[0055] FIG. 1 illustrates a medical imaging apparatus 10 with a C-arm for examining a patient.

[0056] The X-ray medical imaging device 1 comprises a C-arm 2 on which an X-ray source 3 and a detector 4 are arranged facing each other. The C-arm 2 is mounted on a table 5 . The C-arm 2 is movable relative to the table 5 in different directions D, D'.

[0057] In a manner known per se, the X-ray source moves between the Cranio-Caudal axis (CRA / CAU) and the right anterior oblique / left anterior oblique axis (RAO / LAO) (which are mutually perpendicular and in the isocentric system Intersect at the middle center (O)) as a reference in the reference coordinate system of the medical imaging system defined. Figure 2 illustrates the convention.

[0058] The medical imaging apparatus 1 may comprise a gantry 6 intended to accommodate a subject to be imaged, such as a patient. The stand 6 is in this case arranged on a base 7 and can move relative to...

Abstract

The invention concerns a method for monitoring a radiation dose applied to a patient being exposed or having been exposed to radiation from a medical imaging system, the medical imaging system comprising an X-ray source (3), the source describing a trajectory in a coordinate system of reference of the imaging system having an origin (O), the method comprising the following steps: determining (3051) the current coordinates, in the coordinate system of reference of the medical imaging system, of a current region (Z) being exposed or having been exposed to radiation from the X-ray source (3), of an envelope of a patient, model (30), in relation to a current position of the X-ray source (3); determining (3052), from the current coordinates, a current coordinate system of reference having as origin (O') the current position of the X-ray source, the current coordinate system of reference being centred on the current region (Z); and displaying (300) a representation of the current region (Z) centred on the current coordinate system of reference.

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention relates to the field of medical imaging using radiation. [0002] It relates more particularly to estimating and monitoring the radiation doses to which the body or some of its organs are subjected when images are acquired by means of radiation imaging systems. [0003] In particular the invention finds advantageous application in real-time monitoring of the radiation dose experienced by a patient during a radiation procedure. Background technique [0004] Exposure of the patient to X-rays produces two types of effects: [0005] - stochastic long-term effects (cancer risk) involving doses accumulated by patients over their lifetime; from this point of view, any radiation dose must be weighed against the interests of the patient; [0006] - Short-term effects in the hours, days and weeks following exposure (burns); these involve short-term exposures at very high doses. [0007] Radiation imaging, however, may expose the patient'...
