Abstract

Wireless charging and data communication are realized. In accordance with various example embodiments, a transceiver-type circuit wirelessly charges portable devices, such as hand-held telephones via wireless signals, and also wirelessly communicates data with remote transponders. The data communication is carried out to facilitate authentication of the remote transponders and may, for example, be limited relative to a power-carrying capability of the transponders. Such aspects may be implemented, for example, in a transceiver for both transponder-based operation and (high-power) wireless charging applications in vehicle-based circuits.

Description

technical field [0001] Aspects of various embodiments of the invention relate to wireless power and data applications. Background technique [0002] Many wireless communication systems employ transponders and base stations that communicate with each other. For example, transponders may be used in automotive applications for anti-theft circuits or other circuits that enable ignition circuits. Typically, the transponder communicates with the base station to unlock the doors and / or the ignition of the car, or otherwise enable associated circuitry. Many such circuits use the ISM (Industrial Scientific Medical) band around 125 kHz, which can be used in metallic environments such as automobiles and is relatively insensitive to detuning (eg by touch). [0003] In some embodiments, including most transponder applications for vehicle access / braking, the energy to operate such transponders may also be provided wirelessly. For example, a low frequency electric field may be provided ...
