Abstract

Provided is a monitoring apparatus which is capable of ensuring higher failure protection performance in an operation monitoring structure of control apparatuses, such as a microcomputer, charged and discharged by a capacitor. A charging and discharging control circuit (110) supplies first current (11) by using a first path in order to charge a capacitor (202). A monitoring signal is inputted correspondingly and periodically from a control apparatus (201) in order to discharge the capacitor (202). A signal output circuit (130) outputs a signal indicating the absence of the monitoring signal when charging voltage reaches a specified value. A force charging circuit (140) supplies second current (I2) larger than the first current (I1) by using a second path different from the first path in order to charge the capacitor (202) when it is detected that the first current (I1) from the charging and discharging control circuit (110) stops supplying.
