The guiding device, which serves for guiding a sliding element, such as a sliding door provided with a door leaf, with which a room opening of a building part can be closed at least approximately tightly, comprises a running rail having a longitudinal axis (x) and at least one carriage that is guided along the running rail and that comprises a carriage body that is connected to a coupling device that is coupled or can be coupled with the sliding element.
