Embodiment Construction

[0083] Various embodiments of wirelessly powered local computing environments are described. The wirelessly powered local computing environment includes at least one near field magnetic resonance (NFMR) power supply arranged to wirelessly provide power to any number of suitably configured devices. In the described embodiment, the device arranged to receive power wirelessly from the NFMR power supply may be located in an area called the near field, which extends approximately a distance D, which may be several times the characteristic size of the NFMR power transmission device. Generally speaking, the distance D can be about 1 meter.

[0084] In the context of this discussion, it is well known that available power can be transmitted wirelessly through a wireless transmitter and receiver, where the wireless transmitter and receiver are temporarily coupled through a magnetic field. More specifically, the system according to the embodiment may include a wireless power receiver incor...

Abstract

The invention relates to combining power from multiple resonance magnetic receivers in a resonance magnetic power system. Various embodiments of a wirelessly powered local computing environment are described. A system and method for utilizing wireless near field magnetic resonance (NFMR) power transmission in a computing environment. A small form factor wireless power unit can be used to replace conventional batteries.

Description

Technical field [0001] The described embodiments generally relate to utilizing wireless power transfer in a portable computing environment. Background technique [0002] Energy or electricity can be transmitted wirelessly using a variety of known radiation, or far-field, and non-radiation, or near-field, technologies. For example, radiated wireless information transmission using low-directional antennas, such as those used in radio and cellular communication systems and home computer networks, can be considered wireless energy transmission. However, this type of radiant transmission is very inefficient because only a small part of the supplied or radiated power, that is, in the direction of and superimposed with the receiver, is captured. Most of the electricity is radiated in all other directions and lost in free space. This inefficient power transmission is acceptable for data transmission, but it is not practical to transmit a useful amount of electrical energy for work, suc...
