Abstract

The invention discloses a wireless field device assembly, which includes a process sensor, a housing, a power supply module and a processor. Process sensors are configured to monitor process variables and generate sensor signals. A housing encloses an interior space of the wireless field device. The power module includes an energy storage device and a connection to a local power source, and is configured to be received in the wireless field device. The processor is located in the interior space and is powered by the power module. A processor generates a failure signal value for distinguishing between an energy storage device failure, a local power supply failure, and a no-failure condition.
