The determination method comprises the steps of determining peak area of a standard sample by a gas chromatographic method, drawing a standard curve, determining peak area of a sample to be determined under the same condition as determination of the standard sample, and obtaining an alcohol mass fraction in methanol in the standard curve according to the obtained peak area of the sample to be determined. According to the method, the sample is separated by an Rtx-WAX-Max capillary column, so that methanol is separated from alcohol, and alcohol replaces isopropanol as an internal standard substance, so that the toxicity of a reagent is reduced. The method solves the problem that the existing national standard is only applicable to macroanalysis, and the trace alcohol content in methanol cannot be determined accurately since a byproduct isopropanol in methanol is superposed with an internal standard substance in the standard.
