The method for establishing the knowledge base comprises the steps of acquiring engineering constraints in a piping layout engineering standard, signifying the engineering constraints to knowledge data in computer language by using an order predicate logic method, and establishing the knowledge base applied to the piping layout based on the knowledge data. The method for evaluating the piping layout comprises the steps of acquiring the data of pipelines to be evaluated, choosing the knowledge data used for evaluation from the knowledge base, leading the chosen knowledge data and the data of the pipelines to be evaluated into an inference engine, enabling the inference engine to use the chosen knowledge data as the rule to conduct logical inference on the data of the pipelines to be evaluated, and obtaining the evaluation result of the pipelines to be evaluated.
