The method comprises the followings: respectively arranging a first detection coil and a second detection coil at the upstream and the downstream on the outer side of a pipeline, conducting sine alternate current excitation on the detection coils to generate mutual inductance between the detection coils and a fuel ball, extracting voltage signals U1 and U2 from the detection coils through a resonance bridge detection circuit, processing U1 and U2 through a signal processor to obtain a ball passing wave signal U0, comparing the ball passing wave form U0and converting the ball passing wave form U0 into a wave peak pulse UP1 and a wave trough pulse UP2, judging by a singlechip whether the fuel ball passes by according to the U0, UP1 and UP2, monitoring whether the detection coils, the signal processor and the singlechip all normally work, and outputting the judging result that whether the fuel ball passes by when the detection coils, the signal processor and the singlechip all work normally, otherwise, sending a piece of warning information.
