Abstract

A needle safety device (1) is described comprising: a needle hub (3) comprising a plurality of resilient arms (3.3) with detents (3.6); a needle (2) with a distal tip (2.1); and A needle shield (4), telescopically coupled to the needle hub (3). The needle shield (4) comprises a plurality of axial slots (4.5) adapted to engage with detents (3.6) on the resilient arm (3.3), and the detents (3.6) are axially movable in the slots (4.5). The needle shield (4) comprises a plurality of grooves (4.6) separated from the groove (4.5) by a partition wall (4.7), and the grooves (4.6) are adapted to engage with the detents (3.6). When the needle shield (4) is in the first position relative to the needle hub (3), the needle shield (4) covers the distal tip (2.1) of the needle (2) and the detent (3.6) engages in the groove (4.5 )middle. When the needle shield (4) is in the second position relative to the needle hub (3), the distal tip (2.1) of the needle (2) protrudes through the hole (4.3) in the needle shield (4), and the catch (3.6) engages in the groove (4.5). When the needle shield (4) is in the third position relative to the needle hub (3), the needle shield (4) covers the distal tip (2.1) of the needle (2) and the detent (3.6) engages in the groove ( 4.6).
