Smart sensors are employed to determine one or more of drug identification, dose, flow rate, concentration, agglomeration, and degradation and / or other characteristics of drug administration that can be detected via sensing technology. A smart sensor(s) can be coupled to or retrofitted onto injection pen injectors and / or drug delivery cartridges and / or infusion sets or cannulae, enabling infusion sets, pen injector systems or drug delivery cartridges to improve tracking of drug self-administration and stop medication errors that occur primarily through self or automated injection (e.g., due to incorrect or incomplete dosing, excessive dose or rate, incorrect drug, or drug degradation).

A pen needle shield system according to the invention comprises at least an injection end shield positioned on the injection side of the hub, shielding the injection end of the needle after an injection, or in the event of an accidental triggering. The injection end shield is compressed toward the hub against the pressure of a biasing spring. The injection end shield engages a sleeve, which is arranged coaxially on the hub such that after the injection is administered the biasing spring pushes the injection end shield to cover the injection end of the needle, carrying the sleeve with it. A disposable pen needle assembly for affixing to a pen injector for injecting a medicament, such as insulin, into a user. The pen needle assembly includes a needle that is sealed within a hub such that a proximal end of the needle is retained within the hub and enclosed by a peel-off hub inner seal. The opposite end of the needle extends outwardly for injecting the medicament. There is a sealed chamber external of the peel-off hub inner seal that contains a swab soaked with an antiseptic material. An outer removable seal, that also can be a peel-off seal, covers the sealed chamber containing the swab so that the user can simply remove the outer seal to gain access to the swab for cleansing the potential injection site. After swabbing the injection site, the hub seal is then also peeled off to access the needle for use in conventional manner.

A drug delivery device is provided herein which includes a tubular body having a proximal end and a distal end, the tubular body defining an opening at or in proximity to the distal end, the opening defining an inner diameter. A drug cartridge is also provided having a proximal end, a distal end and a barrel portion disposed therebetween. The distal end of the drug cartridge is larger in diameter than the inner diameter of the opening. The drug cartridge is inserted into the tubular body to a use position by first inserting the proximal end of the drug cartridge into the opening. The distal end of the drug cartridge limits insertion of the drug cartridge into the tubular body due to the interengagement of the distal end of the drug cartridge and the tubular body. With the drug cartridge being in the use position, the distal end of the drug cartridge is located at least partially externally of the tubular body. A pen injector includes a vial cartridge and a generally tubular body that surrounds the vial cartridge. A needle shield assembly is removably mounted to a mounting end of the body and includes a hollow needle that has a tip for injecting into a patient. A needle hub at least partially surrounds the hollow needle and a slideable sleeve is slideably mounted on the needle hub. The needle hub has an outer surface which deflects the slideable sleeve as the slideable sleeve slides toward a receiving end of the needle hub and into a retracted position. The slideable sleeve bears resiliently on the outer surface of the needle hub during sliding movement of the slideable sleeve relative to the needle hub toward the retracted position such that a restoring force is generated for urging the slideable sleeve to move toward an injection end of the needle hub and into an extended position in which the tip of the needle is located completely inside of the slideable sleeve.

The composition for teriparatide injection comprises teriparatide, a freezing and drying protecting agent and a pH regulator, wherein the mass ratio of the teriparatide to the freezing and drying protecting agent is 1:(10-100000). The composition for teriparatide injection is simple in formula; the freezing and drying protecting agent ensures that the teriparatide is not degraded in preparation and preservation processes; and the pH regulator is used for regulating the pH value in a preparation process and regulating the pH value after the composition for teriparatide injection is redissolved, so as to maintain the stability of the teriparatide. The used auxiliary materials are safe, and do not cause toxic reaction. Therefore, the composition for teriparatide injection provided by the invention is good in stability, simple and reasonable in formula, and good in redissolving performance, and can be prepared into powder-injection or injection and is needless to be prepared into a pen-type injector. Thus, the production technology is simple.
