Abstract

The invention discloses a traffic flow detection method based on machine vision. The method is based on images acquired by a camera on a road and includes the steps that a real road background image is rebuilt according to a continuous multiframe image sequence; difference operation is conducted on a current-frame image and the background frame image, and then a difference image is acquired; the difference image is divided into a foreground and a background through a binarization method, target classification is conducted on a divided foreground target, vehicle targets in the foreground target are recognized, and eventually vehicles are counted. Through the traffic flow detection method, counting of road traffic flow is achieved, the targets are divided through a background difference method, and target extraction accuracy and traffic flow detection accuracy are improved.
