The invention discloses a system for monitoring indoor air quality with a plant. The system is used for monitoring the indoor air quality by detecting change of an electric potential of the plant. The system comprises a plant, an electric potential detection device, two fixing rod, an electric potential measuring instrument and a server, wherein the electric potential detection device comprises a positive electrode and a negative electrode; the positive electrode and the negative electrode are inserted into a leaf of the plant at an interval of at least 1cm in an extension direction of a leaf vein; the fixing rods are telescopic rod bodies and are used for fixing the electrodes on the leaf of the plant; the electric potential measuring instrument is electrically connected with the positive electrode and the negative electrode respectively; the server receives and stores electric potential change values of the leaf of the plant detected by the electric potential measuring instrument, compares the electric potential change values at different times and take corresponding treatment measures according to comparison results. The monitoring system is low in production cost, high in detection sensitivity and good in performance, can improve the indoor air quality timely and is applicable to mass production.
