Embodiment Construction

[0039] This specification provides accompanying drawings, so that the present invention can be further understood, and the accompanying drawings also constitute a part of this specification. The drawings illustrate the embodiments of the invention and, together with the description, serve to explain the principles of the invention.

[0040] In order to provide high power factor for LED-based lighting devices, the present invention proposes a circuit that can charge a storage capacitor when the input AC power voltage is close to a peak value. Figure 5 Shows the charge, sustain and discharge phases of a LED-based lighting device powered by a rectified AC power source.

[0041] Such as Figure 5 As shown, the charging phase occurs when the input AC voltage has a higher voltage, and the charging current of the storage capacitor can be controlled to reduce harmonic distortion. During the charging phase, an alternating current drives the LEDs and charges the storage capacitor. D...

Abstract

A lighting device based on light emitting diodes comprises a rectified alternating-current power supply of which the rectified output is connected to a storage capacitor via a switching element, multiple light emitting diode sections controlled by a linear drive circuit, and at least one charging path connected between the multiple light emitting diode sections and the storage capacitor. One or more controllable linear light emitting diode drive units are connected in parallel with the storage capacitor to provide a balance between reducing light flicker and increasing the power factor.

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention relates to a light emitting diode (LED) based lighting device, especially a driving device for a LED based lighting device with low light flicker and high power factor. Background technique [0002] Light-emitting diode (LED) is a semiconductor-based light source, which is often used in low-power consumption meters and indicators of home appliances. The application of light-emitting diodes in various lighting devices has become more and more common. For example, high-brightness light-emitting diodes have been widely used in traffic lights, vehicle lights, and brake lights. In recent years, lighting equipment using strings of high-voltage light-emitting diodes has also been developed to replace traditional incandescent and fluorescent bulbs. [0003] In order to improve the brightness of lighting devices based on LEDs, usually a plurality of LEDs are connected in series to form a lighting unit based on LEDs, and multiple lighting ...
