The invention simultaneously provides a test method using the apparatus. The apparatus and method have the following advantages: the apparatus is visual in test, clear in calculation method, reasonable in structure, simple to operate and low in cost, errors caused by a conventional stress calculation mode are improved, if it is assumed that precision of a conventional soil pressure box is rho, the test precision of three kind of main stress through calculation is 1.0 rho, the test precision of three kind of shearing stress is 1.22 rho, and the average test precision is 1.11 rho.
