The present invention discloses a method for heartbeat channel backup by using a serial port in a double control system. The method comprises: when a data link fails, a first controller sending communication packet data to a second controller through the serial port; the second controller receiving the communication packet data, and analyzing the communication packet data to obtain packet information of the communication packet data; the second controller detecting whether a heartbeat link between the first controller and the second controller is normal by the packet information; if not, sending first response information indicating that the heartbeat link is failure to the first controller; the first controller receiving the first response information, and determining a split-brain phenomenon occurs between the first controller and the second controller according to the first response information; and the first controller taking over the resources and services of the second controller. According to the method, maintaining data consistency is realized, and disk-array business continuity, data security and data consistency are improved.
