The variable-frequency air conditioner comprises the outdoor unit, the outdoor unit comprises a variable-frequency compressor and an oil separator communicated with the variable-frequency compressor, the outdoor unit further comprises an outdoor unit electronic expansion valve, one end of the outdoor unit electronic expansion valve is communicated with the oil separator, and the other end is communicated with the variable-frequency compressor. The method comprises steps as follows: the first operating frequency of the variable-frequency compressor is detected; according to the first operating frequency and the pre-stored corresponding relation, a first open degree value of the outdoor unit electronic expansion valve corresponding to the first operating frequency is determined, wherein the corresponding relation is the corresponding relation between the operating frequency and open degree values of the outdoor unit electronic expansion valve; the open degree value of the outdoor unit electronic expansion valve is adjusted to the first open degree value.
