[0024] Methods, systems, and devices related to channel estimation in position tracking systems are described. These methods, systems and devices may include determining or designing (or determining and designing) a sequence for use with determining the location of a location tracking tag. In order to achieve low implementation complexity, it may be desirable to employ a preamble sequence with a minimum periodic dimension that is a power of two. In some cases, using such an exponential dimensional sequence of 2 (e.g., N=2 d ) will allow channel estimation schemes to be implemented based on radix-2 (radix-2) Fast Fourier Transform (FFT) engines, which in turn can reduce circuit complexity.
[0025] Designing sequences with an exponential dimension of 2 (eg, ternary sequences) may include solving certain optimization problems. In some instances, sequence determination requires modifying the length of the sequence or modifying the spectral response of the sequence, or both.
