Embodiment 1

[0015] The hybrid seeds of bearded iris short dream and flat petal powder are used.

[0016] On June 25th, the hybrid fruits whose peels were about to crack were collected, the peels were peeled off, the plump seeds were selected, dried naturally, and stored in kraft paper bags at room temperature.

[0017] On August 16, the stored seeds were taken out and soaked in clean water for 48 hours.

[0018] The soaked seeds were taken out and soaked in 500ppm and 1000ppm 6-BA solution for 12h, 24h and 36h respectively.

[0019] After the seeds are treated, sow and manage according to conventional sowing methods.

[0020] On October 4, the seeds germinated, and by October 18, the germination rate of each treatment reached 60-75%. The highest germination rate was 75% in 1000ppm6-BA solution for 12h.

Embodiment 2

[0022] Seeds from hybrids of bearded iris Indian chief and white and yellow are used.

[0023] On June 25th, the hybrid fruits whose peels were about to crack were collected, the peels were peeled off, the plump seeds were selected, dried naturally, and stored in kraft paper bags at room temperature.

[0024] On August 16, the stored seeds were taken out and soaked in clean water for 48 hours.

[0025] The soaked seeds were taken out and soaked in 300ppm, 500ppm and 1000ppm 6-BA solution for 12h, 24h and 36h respectively.

[0026] After the seeds are treated, sow and manage according to conventional sowing methods.

[0027] On October 8, the seeds germinated. By October 18, the germination rate of each treatment reached 50-70%. The highest germination rate was 70% when treated with 500ppm6-BA solution for 24 hours.

Abstract

The invention relates to a plant seed treatment method and in particular relates to a method for breaking the dormancy of iris barbata hybrid seeds. The method comprises the following steps: peeling off pericarps and naturally drying; soaking the seeds at a room temperature with clean water for 48 hours; soaking the seeds with a 300mmp-1000ppm 6-BA solution for 12-36 hours; and taking out the seeds and sowing. After the seeds treated by the method are sowed, the seeds can germinate after 46-60 days, and the germination rate can reach 75%; the dormancy of the iris barbata hybrid seeds is effectively relieved, and the time that the seeds germinate in March to April in the next year after being sowed in sand under conventional conditions is brought forward to October of the current year and is brought forward for about 6 months; and the germination rate reaches 75%. The breeding progress of iris barbata is accelerated.

Description

technical field [0001] The invention relates to a method for treating plant seeds, in particular to a method for breaking dormancy of hybrid seeds of bearded iris. Background technique [0002] Bearded iris is the general term for irises with bearded appendages on the pendulous petals. It is a type of iris with the fastest development, the most amazing flower changes and the most varieties among modern ornamental flowers. [0003] People have obtained varieties with various traits by crossing between bearded iris varieties, but the seeds of bearded iris have dormancy characteristics. Conventional sowing has late emergence and low emergence rate, which hinders the breeding process. [0004] Randolph[RandolphLF, CoxLG.Factors inlfuencing the germination of Irisseed Andtherelation of inhibiting substances to embryoodormancy[J].Proc.Amer.Soc.hort.Sci.,1943,43:284-300.] believes that germination inhibitory substances in the endosperm of bearded Iris seeds hinder seed germinatio...
