Problems solved by technology

[0008] Furthermore, proper fixation of a prosthetic heart valve replacing a diseased native heart valve is often complicated due to, for example, calcification of the native valve
Calcified valve tissue takes on an irregular ring shape, making it difficult to hold the prosthetic valve securely in place

Abstract

The invetion relates to a prosthetic heart valve system(10;200;300) and a delivery system(400) therefor, wherein the prosthetic heart valve system(10;200;300) comprises a heart valve element(20) with expandable generally tubular stent support (102)forming a wire frame, wherein the tubular stent support(102) comprises a plurality of adjacent rows of interconnected, substantially diamond-shaped cell structures(171) extending, along and in parallel to the longitudinal direction, between the proximal end and distal end, and wherein the stent support(102), in a medial portion(105), comprises a circumferential row of a plurality of wire anchor structures(171) which wire anchor structures are spaced from one another and attached to the wire frame and which, in respect to the longitudinal axis of the stent support(102), at least partially protrude outward at an angle [alpha]. The prosthetic heart valve system may also comprise a stent(graft)-element(310).

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention relates to an artificial heart valve for replacing a native valve of a human body, and also to a delivery system for implanting an artificial heart valve according to the invention in the heart of a patient in need thereof. Background technique [0002] Heart valve replacement surgery is necessary when the native heart valve is damaged, abnormal, or not working. In the heart, heart valves maintain unidirectional blood flow by opening and closing according to the pressure difference on each side. As such, heart valves may be affected by a range of diseases, and heart valve replacement surgery may therefore be required. The valve may become leaky (ie, regurgitate) or inadequate, in which case the aortic valve is substandard and blood flows passively back into the heart in the wrong direction. In addition, the valve may become partially closed, ie narrowed, in which case the valve cannot open fully, thereby blocking the flow of blo...
