Abstract

A system-setup assistance apparatus includes: a system-design assistance tool (10), i.e. a system-design assistance unit, that loads a profile (15) for each of a number of devices that are to constitute a factory-automation system and uses data from the loaded profiles (15) to assist in the design of the factory-automation system; and various simulators (11), i.e. simulation units, that simulate the behavior of the factory-automation system designed using the system-design assistance unit. The system-design assistance unit includes a simulator-coordination function unit that coordinates with the system-design assistance unit to operate the simulation units. The simulation unit includes a simulator for each device. The system-design assistance unit loads the abovementioned profiles, which contain simulator information for operating the simulators in coordination with the system-design assistance unit, and the simulator-coordination function unit uses the simulator information to operate the simulators.
