Abstract

The invention provides a battery management system and an electric vehicle. The battery management system comprises a main controller and a standby controller. The main controller is used for management control of a power source system. The standby controller is connected with the main controller and used for detecting whether the main controller breaks down or not and replacing the main controller to execute at least part of management control functions of the main controller when detecting that the main controller breaks down. According to the battery management system, at least part of the management control functions for the power source system can still be executed when the main controller fails, and thus the risk caused by the failure of the main controller is reduced.
