Abstract

The present invention provides a filter for a smoking article, the filter comprising a filter element formed from a solution in acetone of cellulose acetate and a degradable polymer which is soluble in acetone and which is stable in the presence of water down degradation. In a first aspect of the invention, the filter element is a filter segment (16) formed from a plurality of fibers formed from a degradable solution.
