Embodiment Construction

[0036] Referring generally to the drawings, systems and methods for low-level central facility optimization are shown in accordance with various exemplary embodiments. The systems and methods described herein can be used to control equipment at a central facility that provides heating and / or cooling to a building or building complex (ie, building systems). A central facility may include multiple sub-facilities, each configured to perform a specific function. For example, a central facility may include a heating sub-plant, a cooler sub-plant, a heat recovery chiller sub-plant, a hot thermal energy storage sub-facility, a cold thermal energy storage sub-facility, and the like.

[0037] According to an exemplary embodiment, each sub-installation receives a setpoint thermal energy load (e.g., thermal energy per unit of time) to be serviced by that sub-installation and generates equipment dispatch status (equipment dispatch status) and / or or operating setpoint to service the setpo...

Abstract

Systems and methods for low-level central facility optimization are provided. The central facility's controller uses binary optimization to determine one or more feasible on / off configurations of the central facility's equipment that satisfy operating constraints and satisfy thermal energy load set points. A controller determines an optimal operating set point for each feasible on / off configuration and generates operating parameters including at least one of the feasible on / off configuration and the optimal operating set point. The operating parameters optimize the amount of energy consumed by the central facility equipment. The controller outputs the generated operating parameters via the communication interface for controlling the central facility equipment.
