Problems solved by technology

Although this dual-fiber design is beneficial to collect more nonlinear fluorescent signals, it usually leads to the probe being too large in size to pass through the interventional channels of commercially available gastroscopes or colonoscopes (approximately 2.8– 4.0 mm diameter)

Abstract

The invention is directed to a fiber optic device that enables multiphoton imaging with improved signal-to-noise ratio having a single piece of double-clad fiber (DCF). The device also includes all components for focusing, scanning and signal collection within an endomicroscope probe of around 2 mm outer diameter. The unprecedented imaging capability of this miniature endomicroscope is demonstrated herein via both ex vivo and in vivo experiments.

Description

[0001] related application [0002] This application claims priority to the following patent application: U.S. Provisional Patent Application No. 62 / 169,712 (titled Fiber-Optic Methods and Devices Enabling Multiphoton Imaging with Improved Signal-to-Noise Ratio, filed June 2, 2015) for the aforementioned patent The contents of the application are incorporated by reference into this application for all purposes. technical field [0003] The invention relates to the field of imaging, in particular to a fiber optic method and device for realizing multi-photon optical imaging with enhanced signal-to-noise ratio. Background technique [0004] Due to their inherent optical tomographic properties, deeper penetration capabilities and reduced photodamage in out-of-focus regions, multiphoton microscopy, especially based on two-photon fluorescence (TPF) and optical second harmonic generation (SHG) signals Microscopic imaging has been widely used in basic biological and biomedical rese...
