Abstract

A system and method for compensating for one or more DC components in an electrical system are disclosed. The system disclosed in the present invention includes one or more sensors for sensing the one or more DC components. The system also includes one or more DC component controllers for generating one or more reference signals based on the one or more signals received from the one or more sensors. In addition, the system has: one or more controllers for generating one or more firing pulses based on the one or more reference signals received from the one or more DC component controllers and one or more valve arrangements for charging one or more controllable branches to balance said one or more DC components of said electrical system.

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention relates to a method and system for performing DC compensation in a transformer, in particular to a method and system for performing DC compensation on a large DC current in a transformer core. Background technique [0002] In a power grid, a transformer is coupled between the AC power system and the converter. DC currents in the power grid can negatively affect transformers. In principle, the time derivative of the flux in the core of the transformer is proportional to the voltage at the transformer terminals. Under ideal operating conditions, that is, when the DC current does not affect the iron core of the transformer, the terminal voltage and load current of the transformer are practically sinusoidal and symmetrical in polarity. Therefore, the magnetic flux is also symmetrical, that is, the positive half cycle and the negative half cycle of the magnetic flux are symmetrical, and equal magnetic force is generated in the two ha...
