The system comprises an elephant flow identifying and marking module, an elephant flow information statistical module and an elephant flow identifying and error detecting module. The elephant flow identifying and marking module is characterized in that an elephant flow is identified according to data amount of a transmission control protocol (TCP) queue in data transmission by a monitor terminal, and if a network flow is identified as the elephant flow, the elephant flow is marked through setting of a differentiated services code point (DSCP) field of an IP header. The elephant flow information statistical module is characterized in that the elephant flows in the network are identified and counted by using the DSCP field of a data package. The elephant flow identifying and error detecting module is characterized in that an average number of bytes of an elephant flow data package is calculated, if the number of bytes is less than an average number of bytes of an elephant flow package, the network flow is identified as the elephant flow that is wrongly detected and is deleted from an elephant flow list, and if the number of bytes is not less than the average number of bytes of the elephant flow package, the network flow is still identified as the elephant flow.
