The present invention makes a classification to the data stream which is outgoing from the Iub interface at the Node B side, data stream which is outgoing from the Iub interface at the RNC side and data stream which is outgoing from the Iur interface at the RNC side according to the direction and the process of the respective data streams, and assigns and adjusts the priority of the data stream classified according to the principles for optimizing QoS and radio resources. When the network is congested, the data stream with a high level will have a higher priority than that with a lower level in queue and source occupancy, and the packet with a lower priority in the same queue is discarded. The DiffServ only contains a limited number of service levels and has little condition information, thus easy to be achieved and expanded.

A “Character-Level Font Linker” provides character-level linking of fonts via Unicode code-point to font mapping. A lookup table is used to identify glyph-level support for runs of particular characters on a Unicode code-point basis for relative to a set of available fonts. This lookup table enables automatic selection of one or more specific fonts for rendering one or more runs of characters comprising a text string. The lookup table is constructed offline by automatically evaluating glyphs comprising a set of common or default fonts. The table is then used for automatically selecting fonts for rendering text strings. Alternately, the lookup table is generated (or updated) locally to include some or all locally installed fonts. Finally, in another embodiment, if no supporting font is identified in the table for a particular character, the system automatically downloads the necessary glyph from one or more remote servers.

Method and system for guaranteeing quality of service for voice-over-IP services

A method and system are disclosed for providing voice communication over a packetized network in which quality of service is guaranteed for voice communications. The method involves identifying reserved paths within the network, such as multi-protocol label switching paths. When a call is made, the identified reserved paths are evaluated to determine whether each contains sufficient bandwidth for the requested voice communication. The effective bandwidth for the call is estimated based on the codec used for the call, the service class parameter set from the caller's user profile, the time of day, and other parameters. A priority parameter is set for the requested voice communication, which may be based on the service class parameter, and is mapped to a specific Differentiated Service Code Point (DSCP) and 802.1p service class parameter. If the reserved path is determined to contain sufficient bandwidth, the requested voice communication is transmitted over the reserved path at the set priority. If the path does not contain sufficient bandwidth, an error message is sent to inform the caller that QoS can not be guaranteed for the call, and a decision is made whether the call should proceed nevertheless.

Differentiated services for network traffic using weighted quality of service is provided. Network traffic is queued into separate per flow queues, and traffic is scheduled from the per flow queues into a group queue. Congestion management is performed on traffic in the group queue. Traffic is marked with priority values, and congestion management is performed based on the priority values. For example, traffic can be marked as “in contract” if it is within a contractual limit, and marked as “out of contract” if it is not within the contractual limit. Marking can also include classifying incoming traffic based on Differentiated Service Code Point. Higher priority traffic can be scheduled from the per flow queues in a strict priority over lower priority traffic. The lower priority traffic can be scheduled in a round robin manner.

Drain size and queue size values are determined for each of the queues to which PHBs are mapped. A mapping of each of the PHBs to a threshold value associated with the queues is determined. Parameters of fragmentation and interleave mechanisms are determined. Network device configuration parameter values based on the mappings, the drain size, and the queue size, etc. are sent to each of the network devices within the DS domain. As a result, consistent PHB is achieved throughout a network using abstract definitions of PHBs.
